Standing Mast Route

Ships with a mast higher than 6.90 metres may only sail through Amsterdam at night. The Standing Mast Route has been created especially for this purpose. You can sail the route in 2 directions: from the Westerkeersluis lock on the IJ to the Nieuwe Meersluis lock and vice versa.

This route is intended for vessels taller than 6.90 metres. We refer to this as the minimum clearance height. This is the distance from the water to the highest point of your boat.

Please note: the Standing Mast Route is temporarily closed. It is not yet known how long this will last.

The Schinkel bridges on the A10 motorway cannot be opened due to a service interruption. Please note that the minimum clearance height is 6.35 metres above the normal Amsterdam level (NAP). There is currently no detour route available for tall ships. It is not yet known when the problem will be resolved. More information can be found on the Rijkswaterstaat website (You are leaving this website) (in Dutch).
