Our tap water
Did you know that Waternet treats approximately 250,000 m³ of water per day? That is the equivalent of 100 Olympic swimming pools. The water is transported to your tap through 2700 kilometres of pipes. We make this happen, day in day out.
Naturally sourced water, safe to drink
Our tap water is of the highest quality and safe to drink. We check its quality and safety every day.
Most of our tap water comes from the Amsterdamse Waterleidingduinen (Amsterdam Water Supply Dunes) near Zandvoort. Another part comes from the Waterleidingplas near Loenen aan de Vecht. This water was originally rain water and water from the Rhine.
Tap water costs
Some home are equipped with a water meter, others are not. Read more about the tap water rates in both of these situations.
