Polders
Half of The Netherlands consists of polders. This is land that we have reclaimed from the sea. Waternet and the Regional Public Water Authority Amstel, Gooi en Vecht ensure safe polders. We also ensure that there is clean and sufficient water.
Protection against the water
The people who live and work in the polder need to be protected against the water. We do this with dykes and pumping stations, however there is much more to it. For example, regular maintenance of ditches and banks is important. We also ensure that the water remains at the correct level.
Work
